Accessing ODBC Databases from Windows with Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4. ODBC)Accessing ODBC Databases from Windows with Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4. ODBC)The Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4. ODBC) allows you to build heterogeneous solutions that transparently integrate ODBC databases with Oracle. DG4. ODBC for Microsoft Windows enables Oracle client applications to access non- Oracle data in databases for which an MS Windows ODBC driver is available. The data remains in its native store, but to the application appears to be stored in a single, local Oracle database. This tutorial shows how to use an Easysoft ODBC driver to connect Oracle DG4. ODBC on Windows (2. XP, 2. 00. 3, Vista, 7, 8) to heterogeneous data such as Inter. Base and Firebird databases, RMS data, and local or remote C- ISAM/D- ISAM files. Introduction. DG4. ODBC for Windows interacts with Heterogeneous Services (an integrated Oracle database component) to provide transparent connectivity between Oracle and non- Oracle systems. Oracle must be the worst database. If the installer actually succeeds then there are these issues with setup, the bottom of the protocol stack and a host of others. 3 Introduction. The intention of this operation manual is to provide system administrators sufficient background knowledge to install EWA net, configure it and handle. DG4. ODBC uses an Windows ODBC driver to access the non- Oracle system. DG4. ODBC for Windows is in the Oracle 1. Oracle 1. 2c distributions. DG4. ODBC for Windows is also available from the Oracle Technology (OTN) Software Downloads Page. Then in the subsequent page, use the . The document assumes that the Oracle database server is configured and the DG4. ODBC for Windows components are already installed on a Windows machine. To connect Oracle to a non- Oracle system through DG4. ODBC for Windows: Install and configure the ODBC driver on the machine where DG4. ODBC for Windows is installed. Configure Oracle: Configure the gateway init file (init*. Configure Oracle Net for the gateway (listener. Configure the Oracle database for gateway access (tnsnames. Create a database link. Throughout this tutorial, replace ORACLE. For example, c: \apps\Administrator\product\1. All Easysoft’s Windows ODBC drivers are compatible with the Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager. Essentially, we are linking DG4. ODBC for Windows to the ODBC Driver Manager, and the Driver Manager is then responsible for ODBC access. The relevant components are: SQL*Plus - > Oracle Client - > DG4. ODBC instance - > Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager - > ODBC driver - > Database. You need to: Install the ODBC driver on the machine where DG4. ODBC for Windows is installed. In the Windows ODBC Administrator, add a System ODBC data source that connects to the target database. Test the data source. After you have done this to ensure that the ODBC connection is working, Oracle can be configured to use the connection. To access Firebird from Oracle, we used our Firebird ODBC driver to set up the prerequisite ODBC connection. These instructions show you how to install the driver and create and test a System ODBC data source. Although the instructions are based on the Firebird ODBC driver, the process is the same for any Windows ODBC driver from Easysoft. Download the Firebird ODBC driver for Windows platforms. For installation instructions, see the Firebird ODBC driver User’s Guide. In the Windows ODBC Administrator, create a System ODBC data source that connects to the Firebird database you want to access from Oracle. Test your System ODBC data source. In the driver’s ODBC DSN Setup dialog box, click Test. Oracle Configuration. To configure DG4. ODBC for Windows, you need to edit three files and restart the Oracle Listener. The files are: The gateway init filetnsnames. The gateway init file references the System ODBC data source that you added in the ODBC Administrator. Entries that you create in tnsnames. Care needs to be taken when configuring these files, as an incorrect entry in any of them can lead to connection failure. Create a Gateway Init File. On the Oracle server, log in using an account that belongs to the Administrators group. Tom We have 10 cpu's on our production server, we have the following concerns, and missing pieces of knowledge before we start using parallel query on some select. Make a copy of the template gateway init file, initdg. The template file is stored in the ORACLE. For this tutorial, we copied the template init file, initdg. The init file references the System ODBC data source for the target database. For example: # This is a sample agent init file that contains the HS parameters that are. Database Gateway for ODBC. HS init parameters. HS. Note that as DG4. ODBC for Windows uses the SQLDriver. Connect ODBC API, you can actually put any valid ODBC connection string here. HS. You should generally leave this commented out, as tracing can degrade performance. However, if you are having problems, HS. Gateway log files are stored in the ORACLE. For example, ORACLE.
For the Oracle Listener to listen for DG4. ODBC, information about DG4. ODBC must be added to the Oracle Listener configuration file, ORACLE. You need to: Create a SID. For example, we named the init file initfb, and so used fb as the SID. You need to add a connect descriptor for the gateway. The connect descriptor identifies the Oracle server to attach to and the SID. For example: fb. You include this entry when creating the database link with SQL*Plus. Reference the SID. For example, . Do this so that your tnsnames. ADDRESSThis is the entry for your Oracle server. For example. ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=oracle. For example. CONNECT. To do this, open an MS- DOS window and run: cd ORACLE. If tnsping succeeds, you will get a message similar to: tnsping fb. TNS Ping Utility for 3. Windows: Version 1. Production on 0. 6- MAY- 2. Copyright (c) 1. 99. Oracle. To do this, connect to SQL*Plus as if connecting to your regular database. At the SQL prompt, create a new database link. For example: CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK hslink CONNECT TO. Note that when creating the database link, the database user and password need to be supplied. For example: select * from dual@hslink; where . This is because Easysoft’s Windows ODBC drivers use little endian (UCS- 2. LE) format for SQL. This issue is currently being investigated by Oracle and should be resolved in Oracle version 1.

Crtl- alt- del functions, but when I ask for the task manager, it does not pop up. The problem does not seem to be that explorer did not start properly. When I force a shut down of the system, both the desktop icons and the taskbar become visible right before the system shuts down, and i can see that the system has started up normally. It is indeed as if a veil is covering the desktop. Starting up in safe mode is an option, and I have tried to clean the registry as suggested by several forums. Nothing I have tried so far, worked. The exact location was to be selected by President George Washington, who signed the bill into law on July 1. Formed from land donated by the states of Maryland and Virginia, the initial shape of the federal district was a square measuring 1. On September 9, 1. President Washington. Further, the unincorporated area within the District was organized into two counties: the County of Washington to the east of the Potomac and the County of Alexandria to the west. The Capitol, Treasury, and White House were burned and gutted during the attack. Alexandria's citizens petitioned Virginia to take back the land it had donated to form the District, through a process known as retrocession. Therefore, the District's current area consists only of the portion originally donated by Maryland. Some members of Congress suggested moving the capital further west, but President Ulysses S. Published 5 August 2. The big opportunity in Big Data. Colin Strong pp. Recent studies have suggested that presently brands aren't realising the potential of this data and are often failing to get a return on their investments.
Big Data should be studied to derive an understanding about consumers' psychology; relatively simple pieces of data can reveal deep truths about who people are. The challenge of data is actually resulting in a return to the heritage of market research as a key gateway between academia and industry. Market research has, for a long time, relied heavily on consumers self- reporting their needs, attitudes and emotions; data has the potential to bypass the biases of self- reporting to derive new insights and radically change our understanding of human behaviour. Published 5 August 2. The declining use of the term market research: An empirical analysis. Daniel Nunan pp. Although the term is well established as an industry definition, its use and meaning have become increasingly contested. This study brings together empirical data from a range of sources that reflect key stakeholders within the market research sector. Findings suggest that the term . Few of the leading research firms use this term to describe their core activity, and data suggest that wider use of the term has declined over the past decade. A number of explanations for this are explored, including isomorphism among research firms, the role of research in generating value, and the broader economic context in which research takes place. Finally, the paper considers whether continuing use of the term is beneficial to the future success of the research sector. Published 1 June 2. Device use in web surveys: the effect of differential incentives. Aigul Mavletova and Mick P. Previous studies have not found effective ways of encouraging participants to use smartphones to complete web surveys. We conducted an experiment using a volunteer online access panel in Russia with 5,4. We varied the invitation mode (SMS vs email) and encouragement to use a particular device for completing the survey: mobile phone or personal computer (PC). SMS increased the proportion of mobile web respondents, while email increased the proportion of PC web respondents. As expected, differential incentives increased the overall participation rates by 8–1. Contrary to expectations, offering higher incentives to PC web respondents did not produce higher participation rates compared to the control condition. Both encouraging the use of a mobile phone and offering higher incentives were effective at increasing the proportion of respondents using mobile devices. In terms of both participation rates and the proportion of respondents using mobile devices, offering incentives 5. Offering higher incentives to mobile web respondents also had an effect on sample composition. Significantly higher participation rates were found among females and those with higher education. Plackett- Burman design in choice- based conjoint analysis: A case of estimating warning message distribution on tobacco packages Ruben Huertas- Garcia, Laura Guitart- Tarr. Although in choice- based conjoint analysis profiles are usually randomly organised in blocks, we propose a manually statistical arrangement because its design takes into account all the factors in the same number and equally distributed, and because it allows us to determine the degree of resolution in advance. Plackett- Burman can be an efficient design if we consider a trade- off between the number of stimuli in each choice set and the number of choice sets used in the assessment process. To illustrate its uses we describe an empirical application measuring preferences for shocking warning messages on cigarette packages described in 1. Published 1 October 2. Assessing the response format effects on the scaling of marketing stimuli. Ling Peng and Adam Finn pp. Issues not fully resolved include the optimal number of response categories, choice of semantic rating versus Likert form, and the appropriateness of mixing positively and negatively expressed items. While there is considerable empirical research on these issues, it addresses the scaling of respondents and is yet to produce consensus as to the most appropriate practice. In marketing, multi- item scales are not only used to scale consumer respondents, they are used to scale marketing stimuli. This article examines these response format issues when the primary objective is to scale marketing stimuli rather than consumers using generalisability theory criteria for data quality. G- study website assessment data using different response formats are used to compare their effects on the observed variance components and G- coefficients for websites. Conclusions are drawn for the most appropriate response format to use in marketing studies that scale marketing stimuli. Published 1 August 2. A better rim weighting algorithm. Dick Stroud pp. Healthcare is defined by Syed as a 'closed loop' where failure does not lead to progress, whereas aviation is an 'open loop' that systematically analyses failure to ensure it is not repeated. Individuals, like the industries discussed, also benefit from admitting their mistakes and trying to learn from them. The book investigates organisational cultures where failure is used to drive progress through case studies such as James Dyson, Unilever, and Team Sky. Published 5 August 2. Management of the fuzzy front end of innovation, by Oliver Gassman and Fiona Schweitzer. Nusa Fain and Beverly Wagner pp. The inadequate management of the early innovation phase if commonly referred to as the fuzzy front end (FFE); empirical research suggests the FFE is essential to successful innovation, but management continues to have difficulty designing this stage. This book aims to address this issue by presenting practical explanations, tools and examples of how to manage and implement the FFE of the innovation process. The research draws upon a wide range of knowledge within the field of innovation management and includes contributions by key scholars and practitioners in accessible language. The integration of empirical research with practical case studies makes the book a unique and compelling read which achieves its primary objective of explaining the FFE and the impact its effective management can have on innovation outcomes. When I mentioned the company I work for, she said, ! I had no idea we had booked Mr. Kellogg for another division of our company. I had the privilege of seeing his stage performance before I booked him. I came back to work the next day and let my boss know that I thought it would be a good idea to book him. I sat directly behind my boss and his daughter during Mr. Kellogg's performance and they laughed the entire time. In fact, the entire Performing Arts Hall was in hysterics. Even the stage production company asked for his number. Needless to say I took a stack of his cards which I'll be sending out to all of our offices and the vendors we booked for the event.
